Simon Pegg hopes Star Trek 3 will shoot next year

Simon-Pegg-Star-TrekIn an interview with Collider, Simon Pegg spoke of his rather busy upcoming schedule. Filming of the Tintin sequel and Mission Impossible 5, both due to shoot next year. Asked whether or not the next Star Trek movie would begin filming next year, he was rather keen at the thought.

“I would hope so,” he replied. “Because it would mean we could get it out for the 50th anniversary, which would be extraordinary… obviously, it’s all in the hands of the sci-fi gods so with a bit of luck…”

“Fortunately, the ‘Mission’ films and ‘Star Trek’ come under the same Bad Robot banner,” Pegg explains. “So they’ll be able to make it work… but I think I’m going to be a bit busy next year.”

Zachary Quinto also seemed to confirm this at the 2013 Galway Film Fleadh, Ireland’s leading film festival on Friday, July 12.

“Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year. It’s going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That’s the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet.”

Roberto Orci also confirmed talks are ongoing with Paramount about Star Trek 3.
