Science fiction becomes reality with Scanadu Scout’s Star Trek style Tricorder. Scanadu Scout is designed to be a medical grade Tricorder using your smartphone and Bluetooth LE to emulate an Emergency Room in your pocket.
The device can measure your:
- Heart Rate
- Skin/Core Body Temperature
- SpO2 (Oxymetry)
- Respiratory Rate
- Blood Pressure
- ECG
- Emotional Stress
The device works by touching your forehead for 10 seconds. It then connects wirelessly to an app on your smartphone to provide you with analysis of the data it collected.
The Scanadu Scout recently raised $1.66 million on crowdfunding site Indiegogo from more than 8,500 funders in 110 countries.
The company still need to get the Food and Drug Administration approval before they start selling the Scout commercially. Indiegogo backers should get their devices by next March. The company hopes to have the Scout broadly available by late 2014 or early 2015.
