Trek Mate: A Star Trek Podcast – Episode 43: Smeg
On this week’s show we digress a little (ok a lot) from Trek and discuss Red Dwarf!
The Delta Quadrant *Bonus* – TMP Retrospective
After an eighteen-month refit process, the starship Enterprise is ready to explore the galaxy once again. But when a huge, invincible cloud approaches Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk must assume command of his old ship in order to stop it. Crewmembers old and new face new challenges, and must work together to triumph over the unknown.
The Delta Quadrant – 1×06 – The Cloud
With energy reserves nearly depleted, Voyager investigates possible resources inside a nebula, which – as it turns out – is not really a nebula.
Off Topic – Josh discusses a few of recent Blu Ray purchases.
Mini Review – The Muppets.
Hailing Frequencies – We finally got some email! Also, one of our listeners correctly answered last week’s trivia question. Listen in to find out which Star Trek film our listener chose for us to review as the first part of our Star Trek retrospective reviews.
Also, the cast of The Delta Quadrant will soon be introducing a sporadic parallel episode review series entitled “Meanwhile…In the Alpha Quadrant.” These reviews will be bonus episodes of The Delta Quadrant that will instead review episodes of one of the many other Star Trek series – TNG, DS9, ENT, TOS and TAS. The listener who correctly answers this week’s trivia question will chose our first review in our new parallel review series
The Delta Quadrant – 1×05 – Phage
Neelix’s lungs are removed by a race that suffers from a deadly phage that is slowly destroying their population. We ran a little long this week so unfortunately I had to cut a few segments out of the show. We’re still feeling our way through the podcast trying to get our format down to a science so please forgive us. We still might be a little loose, but stick with us. Also, we welcome a special guest a possible new co-host–J.D. from New York. He’s a big Star Trek fan and I think added a great new slice of chemistry to our show
The Delta Quadrant – 1×04 – Time and Again
While investigating a massive explosion that destroyed all life on a planet, Janeway and Paris are swept back a day in time, where they must prevent the explosion. Listen in to hear our review and rating. Also, we introduce a new co-host to the show, Matt H, and a new segment, The Mini Movie Review. This week’s Mini Movie Review – Blade Runner: The Final Cut.
The Delta Quadrant – 1×03 – Parallax
Investigating an apparent distress call, Voyager becomes trapped inside the event horizon of a quantum singularity. It’s the first episode after the pilot and it’s not a bad start. There’s a little too much technobabble at times but the character moments help carry this episode to the end.
Also, we introduced a few new segments including a new ratings system based off of the Netflix star rating system: 1 Star = Hated it. 2 Stars = Didn’t Like It. 3 Stars = Liked It. 4 Stars = Really Liked It. 5 Stars = Loved It.
The Delta Quadrant – 1×01 – Caretaker
The newly commissioned starship Voyager and a Maquis raider are flung into the remote Delta Quadrant by a powerful entity known as the Caretaker. In our pilot episode, Benji and I discuss another pilot episode. Also, we both give our overall rating for in regard to the other Star Trek pilots.
The Delta Quadrant – Mission Overview/Introductions
Here is episode 0 of The Delta Quadrant, laying the groundwork for what was to come.

Ten Forward:Episode 15: Book Club Destiny Gods Of Night
This week on Ten Forward, barkeeps Sina and Matt chat with guest host Michael Clark about Book 1 of the Destiny Trilogy: Gods of Night. We also discuss a bit of news and read your emails about Anthony’s controversial opinions. Join us as we talk books and more books!
Our Thoughts: We really enjoyed this book. It is fast paced and very well written. It discusses many stories (four captains and four ships), has lots of character moments in spite of all the action, has a view of Federation politics, and contains a blend of familiar favorites and new faces. The book has both poignant moments as well as all out battles against Borg cubes. David Mack is able to tie many threads from many series together to bring about a cohesive, exciting book that keeps you turning the pages. An excellent beginning to a three book trilogy that entices you to come back for more.
The Final Verdict: An extremely well written book that was enjoyed by all the hosts. We thoroughly recommend it.
TrekMate: In The Wilderness – Episode 10: Absolute crap
Well, this week everything that could go wrong post-recording did. We lost 2/3 of the real time review so it got replaced by an hour of the Podathon we were on. We promise Episode 11 will be good and done properly.
