Ten Forward:Episode 24: Book Club Destiny Book 2

This week it’s book club time and Sina & Michael are joined by Literary Treks Matt Rushing as we discuss the second book in the Destiny Trilogy: Mere Mortals by David Mack.
Our Thoughts:This is a great book. The story continues at a good pace with the fate of the whole Alpha Quadrant in the balance. Again as in Book one Mack continues to thread together stories from across the Star Trek universe towards it’s conclusion in book three. We all agreed that we enjoyed the interaction / story between Dax & Picard while not too keen on the Titan story with its secondary characters. Matt & Sina were able to pull Michael round to their way of thinking towards the way Picard is portrayed and that the book is indeed not padding. David Mack manages to show the horrors of war unlike anything seen in Star Trek before and keeps the adrenaline flowing with some great battle scenes with the Hirogen.
The Final Verdict: An extremely well written book that was enjoyed by all the hosts. We thoroughly recommend it.
