“Make It Sew”: A Star Trek T-shirt Design Contest


For all the geek girls out there here’s your chance to design and submit a Star Trek-themed tee-shirt to win $500 and to have your design printed and sold on one of Her Universe’s super-comfy ladies’ blanks and made available on ThinkGeek website.

To help celebrate 2013 as the Year of the Fangirl, ThinkGeek has teamed up with Her Universe to host an epic Star Trek shirt design contest, which their calling “Make It Sew.” The idea: you send them your Star Trek shirt design, which can be from any of the television series. They will go through them and select the most epic one.

Prize: $500 
Submission Deadline: 11:59pm ET October 7, 2013
Winner Announced: October 14, 2013

“The Year of the Fangirl is a campaign celebrating female fans,” said Her Universe co-founder Ashley Eckstein. “We have so many budding designers with incredible talent and ideas, and I wanted to give fangirls a platform to design professionally for Her Universe. I am thrilled to be partnering with ThinkGeek and Star Trek for this exciting (“Make It Sew”) contest!”  

“The more mainstream that ‘geek’ becomes, the more opportunity we have to bring fans, both men and women, what they want,” said ThinkGeek spokesperson Steve Zimmermann.  “Working with Her Universe has been a great opportunity.”
