This small feature follows on from Podcast 21 where we asked Gail Gerard (aka the TrekKnitter) to send us examples of the Star Trek related items she had knitted.
We received the following information from Gail:-

I’m a member of a website called Ravelry (www.ravelry.com) and a member of a group there called The Starfleet Fiber Arts Corps. Several times a year we go out on a “tour of duty” and each month during our tour of duty, we have a different Trek-related theme with different missions to complete.
The green beanie cap with the flowers was from a mission where we were assigned to make something that would help us fit in with the locals during a diplomatic mission on Orion.

The white messenger bag with the red cross is from a mission where we were supposed to design something to be used either by one of the doctors (I call it the Dr’s Day Out bag) or in sick bay. 🙂
The red/black/silver fingerless mitts were from a mission where we were supposed to design a new item to add the uniform. I designed these gloves to be a part of the uniform when you’re on an away mission on a planet where it’s fairly cold but your fingers are still free to manipulate your com-badge, your tricorder or your phaser.

Thanks for the photos Gail!

I think that maybe we need to start commisioning some work out to gail to get some character plushies sent over to us 🙂

I’ve never taken commissions for my work before, outside of my mom begging me to make her some socks and stuff. I wouldn’t know what to charge you. 🙂

I’m sure we could figure out a fair price 😉
