The Star Trek: The Next Generation movie collection 4K Blu-ray release is a stunning visual and audio upgrade for these classic sci-fi movies. The remastered films have been meticulously upgraded to 4K resolution, resulting in a level of detail and clarity that was previously unseen. The colours are vibrant and the contrast is sharp, providing a more immersive viewing experience than ever before. Whether it’s watching the Enterprise Saucer section crashing in “Generations”, the opening battle against the borg cube in “First Contact”, the beautiful homeworld of the Ba’ku in “Insurrection” or the Enterprise E setting ramming speed in “Nemesis”, this is the most visually stunning release of these movies to date.
In addition to the visual upgrades, the audio has also been remastered into a new 7.1 surround sound mix, delivering a more dynamic and immersive audio experience. The iconic music and sound effects of the films have never sounded better, adding a new level of depth and richness to these films.
My only criticism of this set is that their are no new or 4k special features, as the special features included are lifted from the 2009 blu ray release. But that being said if you haven’t owned the previous blu rays, their is a wealth of bonus features, including behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews with cast and crew, and deleted scenes. These extras provide a fascinating look into the making of the films and offer insights into the creative process behind one of the most beloved sci-fi franchises of all time.
Overall, the Star Trek: The Next Generation Movie Collection 4K Blu-ray release is a must-have for TNG fans and a great way to introduce new fans to these classic films. Despite the lack of new special features, the visual and audio upgrades are impressive enough to warrant upgrading to the 4k release.
