My thoughts on the Into Darkness Trailer by Lee Hutchison

When Michael asked me last night to write a few thoughts when the trailer for ‘Into Darkness’ came out, I got even more excited.

After years of teasing, me moaning at anyone who’d dare suggest it was Khan and generally working myself up into a fan boy frenzy about any sort of information and casting announcement. Since the day Benedict “Fuckin” Cumberbatch was added to the cast, I’ve already been ready to hand it the title of ‘BEST TREK’ movie ever based on the casting alone. So was it safe to say I had sky high expectations ahead of the trailer!

Already got my ticket for an IMAX screening of ‘The Hobbit’ on day of release and even though I’m a huge fan of the Peter Jackson world, I just cannot wait to see the trailer of the biggest and loudest of screens, and the first 9 minutes to boost too. Even though i know it will leave me with a ‘Star Trek Boner’ (TM Paul Finch).

So with all this hype, how’d it go when we got 1 minute 20 seconds worth of footage? Heck, it would’ve been Cumberbatch and Pine just chatting about paint and I would have been happy, fans would have screen-capped and analysed every snap shot and who or what Benedict is! I shall leave it to others to discuss what the trailer contains, who people are, what THAT shot in the Japanese trailer means and all the rest.

What is it with us geeks and going absolutely bonkers over trailers? I love it! Reading, debating and dissecting them with fans and friends is always a blast.

Bring on next Thursday at 3.30pm when I sit down to an IMAX screening of the next trailer and the next 9 minutes as I enjoy an early Christmas present and then we start all this again. I cannot wait to sit by myself, even though its a preview and watch the Enterprise on a screen like no other before.

Did I mention I love Benedict Cumberbatch?

I started watching Trek regularly with TNG and got absolutely hooked after watching “Yesterday’s Enterprise.” Trek has been a big part of my life ever since then and I am happy to share my love for it with all y’all.
