New TV Series idea
After much talk, could Star Trek TV series finally materialize? This is not the first time we have heard of such a thing but if this report from Latino Review is to be believed, the series which had its finest moments under Gene Roddenberry ages ago could finally return to the boob tube. The question now is who would make up the production team? There is talk as well that familiar names tied up with the sci-fi movies to date are among...
Adam Nimoy to direct documentary about his father
Star Trek fans mourning the death of Leonard Nimoy last month can take some solace from the news that the actor’s son, Adam Nimoy, is planning a documentary about his father’s life. For the Love of Spock will focus on the character that defined Nimoy’s career: Spock, the half-alien, half-human officer whose cooly philosophical outlook helped shape the moral code of the Starship Enterprise. The father and son team were working on the...

A Fistful of Mirrors -by Rick Austin @EvolvedRick
This, Q thought, should be fun. He looked around the room, admiring its functional simplicity. The long conference table, the high-backed padded chairs, the large monitor screen on the main wall, even the potted plant in the corner seemed to cry out that it was the model of Starfleet design efficiency. It lacked a little flair, but that was to be expected from human beings. Human beings, he knew, seemed to have a problem enjoying...
Harve Bennett
It’s my sad duty to report the passing of another towering Star Trek figure, Harve Bennett. The veteran writer and producer passed away on Wednesday, March 4, at the age of 84, less than a week after the death of Leonard Nimoy, with whom his career intersected — to the everlasting benefit of both men. He retired to Oregon years ago and died there following a long illness. Bennett, of course, produced and co-wrote...
‘Star Trek The Ultimate Voyage’ Concert Tour Launches In 2016
Next year marks half a century since Star Trek debuted on NBC. I imagine we’re in for a good deal of celebration and anniversary events, but the “Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage” concert will likely be one of the biggest — a 100-stop tour of live music from the TV series and movies, performed by a full orchestra. Presented by CineConcerts, CBS Consumer Products and Paramount Pictures, the concerts will touch on major...
Leonard Nimoy: Each according to his gifts -By Rick Austin @EvolvedRick
He was Spock. That’s what many know, and that was one of the many thoughts that people had when they heard of the death of Leonard Nimoy. By his own admission Spock was a part of him, and in turn he brought life to the alien that he played. Without his intervention the half-human, half Vulcan science officer would have been very different. The Vulcan salute, so often accompanied with the statement “Live long and prosper”,...

Leonard Nimoy 1931 – 2015
It is with great sadness that I write the news tonight. Leonard Nimoy has died today aged 83. He brought joy to millions with his portrayal of Mr Spock in the original Star Trek series. He had been suffering from chronic lung disease caused by smoking. I reported earlier this week that he had been taken into hospital with chest pains. Please use the forums to share your thoughts on this great man, on this deeply sad day....
Remembering TNG’s Maurice Hurley, 1939-2015
We are saddened to report the passing of Maurice Hurley, a writer and producer for Star Trek: The Next Generation. Hurley died on February 24 at the age of 75. Former Star Trek executive producer Rick Berman confirmed his death, tweeting, “We lost one of Star Trek’s most talented minds yesterday. Maurice Hurley produced seasons 1 and 2 of TNG. He was one of a kind. So very sad.” During his time with TNG, Hurley wrote...
